Practical Sustainability in Security Delivery
SPS Security takes a practical, operations-led approach to sustainability. Rather than making aspirational commitments, we focus on what we can control: how we deploy officers, how we plan routes, how we report, how we manage waste and how we run our offices and fleet.
As a regional operator based in Hull, Grimsby and Lincoln, our delivery model inherently reduces the travel, mileage and carbon impact associated with national providers covering the same geography from distant offices.
Operations-led sustainability, not just policy statements
Regional delivery reducing travel and carbon impact
Continuous improvement across fleet, offices and operations
Practical measures embedded into day-to-day service delivery
ISO 14001 and Environmental Management
SPS Security is certified to ISO 14001:2015, the international standard for environmental management systems. This certification, held continuously since 2010 and assessed by Alcumus ISOQAR (UKAS), confirms that we have a structured, audited environmental management system in place across all operations.
Our environmental policy is signed by the Managing Director, reviewed annually and covers all aspects of how we operate — from vehicle fleet management and waste handling to office energy use and procurement decisions.

Smarter Patrol Routing and Local Response
Our mobile patrol routes are GPS-tracked and planned for efficiency, reducing unnecessary mileage and fuel consumption. Officers are deployed from local bases close to their patrol areas, minimising dead mileage and ensuring faster response times.
We continuously review route data to identify opportunities for consolidation, re-sequencing and reduction. Where clients are geographically close, we plan patrol clusters rather than individual long-distance runs.

Digital Reporting and Reduced Paper Use
SPS Security uses digital reporting across all operations. Incident reports, attendance records, patrol logs, management reports and client communications are all handled electronically. This eliminates the need for paper-based reporting, printing and physical distribution.
Our GPS tracking, electronic check-in systems and digital dashboards provide real-time operational visibility without generating paper waste.
Fully digital incident reporting and patrol logging
Electronic attendance records and GPS tracking
Client dashboards replacing printed management reports
Paperless onboarding and compliance documentation
Remote Monitoring and Avoided Call-Outs
Our 24/7 control room provides remote CCTV monitoring, alarm verification and intelligent escalation — reducing unnecessary physical call-outs. By verifying alarms remotely before dispatching officers, we avoid false alarm responses that waste fuel, time and resources.
Remote monitoring also enables us to support clients with out-of-hours cover without maintaining permanent on-site presence, reducing the overall resource footprint of their security programme.

Reduced vehicle movements through intelligent escalation
Lower resource footprint for out-of-hours security cover
Responsible Procurement and Local Supply Chains
SPS Security prioritises local and regional suppliers for vehicles, uniforms, equipment and professional services. By sourcing locally where possible, we reduce transport emissions, support regional businesses and maintain closer supplier relationships.
Our procurement decisions consider environmental and social impact alongside cost and quality. We work with suppliers who share our commitment to responsible business practices.

Supporting Client Sustainability Goals
Many of our clients have their own sustainability targets and ESG reporting requirements. SPS Security can support these by providing data on patrol mileage, resource utilisation, digital reporting volumes and environmental management certifications.
For public sector clients and those responding to tenders with sustainability weighting, our ISO 14001 certification, Achilles Sustainability Rating and operational data provide auditable evidence to support their submissions.

Continuous Improvement
Sustainability at SPS Security is not a static policy — it is part of our continuous improvement cycle. We review environmental performance as part of our ISO management system, track key metrics and set annual objectives for reduction and improvement.
Areas of ongoing focus include fleet efficiency and future vehicle improvements, reducing energy consumption across our offices, improving waste management practices and exploring technology-led alternatives to physical security attendance where appropriate.
