Full-Time Site Support Security Officer
About the role
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Site Support Security Officer to join our operations team in Grimsby, Scunthorpe, and the surrounding areas.
SPS Security has been a family-run business since 1992. As an SIA-approved contractor, we pride ourselves on being regional specialists who value our people as much as our security standards. In this role, you won't just be a number; you will be a key part of a team that supports our clients across various local sites.
This is a mobile, varied position. You will receive comprehensive training to become familiar with our different locations, allowing you to provide professional, consistent cover wherever you are needed most.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your day-to-day work will be focused on maintaining a secure environment and providing excellent service to our clients. Key duties include:
- Controlling access and egress at various customer sites.
- Conducting thorough internal and external security patrols.
- Verifying identification and managing site visitors.
- Monitoring site activity and responding promptly to alarms or incidents.
- Checking deliveries and managing site-specific documentation.
- Accurately recording information and reporting to management.
- Ensuring all site-specific instructions and security procedures are followed to the letter.
Working Pattern
This is a full-time, permanent position. Because we provide security for a variety of clients, your shifts will include a mix of days, nights, evenings, and weekends. We provide monthly rosters in advance, but given the nature of the role, we do require a flexible approach to meet changing operational needs. You will need to travel between sites in the Grimsby and Scunthorpe area, so reliable transport is essential.
Requirements
What you’ll be doing
As a Site Support Security Officer, you are the face of SPS Security. You’ll be responsible for keeping our clients’ sites safe, secure, and running smoothly. Your day-to-day will involve:
- Site Security: Conducting regular internal and external patrols and monitoring activity to maintain a secure environment.
- Access Control: Managing the movement of people and vehicles, verifying identification, and checking deliveries.
- Incident Response: Responding promptly to alarms or security incidents and following site-specific instructions to resolve them.
- Reporting: Keeping clear, accurate, and professional records of your shift, site activity, and any incidents for our management team.
- Customer Service: Acting as a professional point of contact for our clients, providing help and support across various locations.
Working Pattern
This is a full-time, permanent role. Because security needs don't stop, you will need to be flexible.
- Shifts: You will work a mix of days, nights, evenings, and weekends.
- Planning: We provide your roster a month in advance so you can plan your personal time.
- Travel: You will be supporting sites across Grimsby, Scunthorpe, and surrounding areas, so being comfortable with travel is essential.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Licensing: A valid SIA Security Guard or CCTV Operator licence.
- Driving: A full, clean UK driving licence and your own reliable transport.
- Right to Work: Proof of your legal right to work in the UK.
- Vetting: Ability to pass a comprehensive DBS check and provide a verifiable five-year employment history.
- Qualifications: A valid First Aid qualification.
- Flexibility: Genuine willingness to work unsociable hours as part of a rotating shift pattern.
- Training: Willingness to undergo site-specific training to ensure you meet our high standards.
Desirable Requirements
While the above are essential, we would love to hear from you if you also bring:
- Communication: A clear and professional speaking voice, with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and firmly.
- Reliability: A proven track record of punctuality and attendance.
- Technology: Basic IT literacy for completing digital logs and reports.
- Adaptability: Experience working at different sites or in environments that require you to learn new procedures quickly.
